Imagine talking, singing parrots, greedy head butting goats, grumpy toads, waddling catfishes, guinea pigs, rabbits, roosters & terrapins all in a rustic shed-like compound. For $5, we had enough animal food to feed all of them.

Admittedly, one of my other main objective at Farmart was to get live tadpoles. I personally have never seen tadpoles my entire life! Yours truly is certainly a urbanite through and through.

The parrots left such a huge impression on Big E that he pretended to talk like one for the next few days – “Hello! Bye bye! Squawk!” Even singing the Alphabet song & Twinkle Twinkle Little Star like a parrot.

For the next couple of weeks, we kept a tank of 10 odd tadpoles in the house. I thought I was a city person until Hubs was the one freaking out at them.

A couple of tadpoles died & got cannibalised. We had our first frog yesterday! Big E & me found a sweet moist spot at our neighbourhood garden and released it.

“Bye frog! Go find your Mommy & Daddy!”

Big E’s farewell words to his little friend.

It hopped into the grass & disappeared.

It seemed that I was the only one lingering around searching for the frog because the boy got on to his own business picking flowering weeds.

“I want to give these to my teacher!”

Obviously, to Big E a goodbye is a goodbye. No need to be too dramatic over it.

Bye little frog! Eat lots of mosquitoes for me.

Xoxo,
