5 Kid-friendly Attractions & Cafes To Visit In Pattaya, Thailand

This was the first time we travelled as a family of 4. With such new dynamics, we didn’t dare to venture too far.

Honestly, Pattaya does have some of the best beaches. More idlic than her more touristy sisters – Phuket, Koh Samui.

Many family friendly attractions have been popping up in Pattaya & the people generally are more laid-back.

Unpretentious art cafe filled with a soul. This is the best I could describe this beautiful raw gem hidden in a little secret garden just along a busy road.

There’s a wide selection of local & western food. They have an exhaustive list of healthy smoothies and fruit juices. We had mango sticky rice, which wasn’t the best we’ve ever tried though still quite good. Like 3.5 out of 5 stars good.

It’s quiet & for those of you who love to draw, the entire cafe is covered wall to wall with the owner’s paintings over the years. Not to mention tonnes of well-loved books!

Some of his paintings are available for sale in the form of postcards.

Definitely a lovely place to sit all day with a book. But again, we have kids but you get my point. Thankfully, both boys were rather well behaved. No books were destroyed during our time there.

La Baguette

La Baguette is visually appealing even before you step foot into the cafe. Its white glass walls lend in bright cheery sunlight, bold fresh flower arrangements and french renaissance furniture might be one reason why it’s the #1 french bakery in Pattaya.

The true food test proved it deserves to be #1. We had beef tenderloin baguette, chicken crepe, tuna sashimi salad & honey coffee. Everything is so fresh and so crisp. Delicieux! Or should I say aroi!

Floating Market

Bringing Big E to a floating market was one of my to-do list on this trip. We had to pay an entrance fee of 800 baht per person to enter. Children are charged 400 baht. Babies go in free.

You can take a boat ride & explore the stalls around the market leisurely. There’s many souvenir stalls, eateries, water vendors, adventure zipline, monkey feeding & cultural shows happening round the clock. Big E watched his first Thai boxing match. I think it’s his first time on a real boat with oars because he kept asking me whether that’s the oar we talked and sang about in the song “Row row row your boat”.

Had a hearty local lunch where Big E was fascinated that the water vendors cooked on the boats. Baby E as usual was curious over everything!

Pattaya Sheep Farm

We first knew about the sheep farm through CheekieMonkies. Later, we came across their brochures in Pattaya. There are apparently a few other family friendly farms around not just this. But we just want to go somewhere tried & tested.

Big E enjoyed feeding the sheep. Some were rather aggressive greedy and pushed him off his feet in their eagerness to eat as much as they can.

I would love to do a review of their Steakhouse Barn. Unfortunately, I met with an accident and my review for the farm would end here. That’s about all I can remember. I don’t even remember taking these photos I posted. Doctor said I have post-trauma amnesia.

Eh… so we shall move off from here.

What I would gladly share is I am truly thankful for God’s grace and protection. I’ll share more details in private if you wanna ‘kaypo’ :p .

Central Festival Mall

A great place to beat the midday heat. Central Festive is a flagship mall in Pattaya. Personally, I’m not a very mall person when travelling unless there’s really something interesting. The shops here are the same ones you will find in a typical neighbourhood mall in Singapore.

But if you really really really love malls, you can’t miss this. There’s a lot of Korean & Japanese restaurants here. We ate at a Japanese Thai Western fusion cafe. Can’t recall the name and food is not bad.

The reason we came here is really to beat the scorching midday sun.

First morning in Pattaya.

My camera lenses fogged up & Big E was fascinated with a bug on our way to breakfast.

One of those details Big E notices along the way.

“Mommy, this tree looks so funny! It’s different from the other trees.”

He was referring to the tree bark & learnt about a palm tree.

Chilling like a typical tourist along Jomtien Beach while waiting for our vehicle to pick us up back to our resort.

Had 1.5 hours to ourselves when both kids napped. Drinks & Thai foot massage. The massage ladies were amused that Hubs was babywearing Baby E. “Oh, man carry baby!” The Hubs was pretty smug about it because they kept praising him for being a hands-on Dad. Haiya… as long as he’s happy.

*As a mom, I would like to stress that Pattaya is considered Thailand’s sex capital. It didn’t weigh on me until I noticed the amount of second glances some ‘questionable’ tourist men gave towards Big E. I was absolutely horrified at what they might be thinking. My radar went on high alert and kept a hawk eye vision on our kids at all times. 

Child sex tourism is a very real global issue that needs to be seriously addressed & as a mother, it breaks my heart to know how evil taints the most innocent of victims. 

This is a topic that is emotionally difficult to talk about & deserves a lot more than just a mention. I shall reserve this for another day, if ever possible.
