As Singaporean as it gets, the weather is sibeh hot these days!
So hot you can fry an egg on an ice cube.
It was a sweaty, humid, sticky & cranky Saturday afternoon so we just wanted to get out of the house and GO somewhere to chill.
The kids were cranky. The parents were cranky. Heck, even the house can’t wait to spit us out.
One of the nearest cafe within drivable (is that a word?) radius distance was Refuel Cafe.
Turned out everyone had the same idea cos the place was packed. But in a good way cos it’s packed but not noisy and we still managed to get good seats.
I ordered a piccolo latte & smoked salmon sandwich. Hubs ordered a latte. Big E pranced around with our order number. Took the opportunity to recap numbers. Our order number was 10.
My piccolo came first. Wanted to take a photo. Big E was adamant on helping me stir in sugar. Not wanting any unforeseen accidents, no photo of my piccolo as I had to assist my very helpful toddler.
Hub’s latte came. Same thing repeated itself.
Water was self-service. Big E helped us pour out 3 glasses of lovely ice cold lemon infused water, and carried it to our table. No spillage. Yay!
My sandwich came. The history of why-we-couldn’t-take-a-picture-of-our-food kinda repeated itself again.
Take family photo attempt 1:
Baby E meanwhile, had been babbling and grabbing everything that his little arms could reach & taste-testing everything. He saw food. Smacks mouth greedily. We gave him a small piece of bread to chew.
Take photo attempt two:
Look here! Look at Mommy’s camera! Look AT Mommy!
Come, SIT on the bench. Ready? One, two, three! *Snap* Wait, where are your shoes?
Baby E dropped his bread on the floor. Got upset so we gave him another piece. He dropped that too.
Come Big E, lets take a selfie with Mommy.
Wah! What a cute pose. Hold on… is that spinach on your tongue?
Yes, that’s spinach. NOooooo stop wriggling your tongue! STOP PPP!
Actually, we are all laughing. Even baby E found our amusement amusing.
Finally, we are almost done with the coffee and sandwiches.
Did I mention the weather was sibeh hot? Just like that, it started to rain. And when it rains, it pours!
Life’s just like that.
Indeed, it was fun. We didn’t realise for once, we did not bring out any toys or activity packs. We simply engaged each other.
