The Best Playdough in the Whole Wide World!

Heh, thought that might make an impressive title.

We have been making homemade playdough for a year now and I found the perfect recipe here.

I’ve tried all kinds of methods. From no cook playdoughs to ones that just require flour + conditioner, yes, the kind you put in your hair. The best ones are still the traditional (and more tedious) cooking method.

Bubs loves these soft, smooth and squishy doughs.

What you’ll need for this wonderful playdough:

1 & 1/2 cups of flour

1 & 1/2 cups of water

6 tablespoons of salt

3 tablespoons cream of tartar

2 tablespoons of vegetable oil

A few drops of food colouring (optional)

 

Bubs requested for yellow playdough hence we added yellow food colouring.

 

 

Add all the ingredients into a pot. Stir until the lumps are gone and cook over low fire.

Continue to stir as the dough cooks slowly. It will thicken and once it turns into a gooey lumpy consistency, remove the pot from the fire, plop the dough into a bowl to cool.

Once cooled, you can kneed the dough into a beautiful smooth squishy lump.

There you go!

One batch like this can last 3 months in Singapore’s humidity. I always make sure to keep it airtight in a ziplock bag.
